Aztec started strong scoring 8 to 5 from the first 13 centre passes.  Ardmore called injury time and made some changes to their players on court. Aztec then scored 8 to 3 in the remaining time of the first quarter and finished with a lead of 8. Bilton and Inkster rebounded well in the circle and the defence and Centre worked hard to hunt down ball, gaining 7 tips or intercepts and 2 rebounds in this first period of play.  Page was swift off the transverse and to the top of the circle and the team were working with a lot of trust and confidence.
First quarter score:   16 - 8 Aztec

White’s legs were sore so she came off and Hemi took the centre bib.  Aztec continued to dominate possession with lots of work from Lendrum, Spence and Beazley-Tango gaining ball and allowing the attack to make the most of it.
Half time score:    27 - 18 Aztec

Bremner came on at WA, Paea at WD, White back to C, and Lendrum to GD.  Ardmore came out strong in the beginning of this quarter putting pressure on the attacking end and finishing off effectively in the shooting circle. Physicality increased and our shooters were spending quite a bit of time on the ground.  Paea rolled her knee and called injury time.  Hemi came on to take the WD bib.  Ardmore lifted their game and the amount of whistle increased in the second half of this quarter. Ardmore scored 8 to our 4 reducing the lead to 5.
Third quarter score:   36 - 31 Aztec

O’Malley took the GS bib and Bilton moved out to GA, Page came back on at WA, and Lendrum went into GK with Spence coming back on at GD. We allowed Ardmore to score the first 2 goals before we got our rhythm back and increased the gap back to 6.  This however was only short lived as Ardmore rallied and scored the final 4 goals bringing them within 2 at the final whistle 46 - 44 to Aztec.

So we end the Presidents round with three wins against, Ardmore ABs, Ardmore 1, Hui Hui Kotahi, a bonus point from our 1 point loss to Manurewa Rugby and a loss to Generations  A great competitive 5 weeks of netball.
