An improved starting performance from Aztec who were staying goal for goal until the last few minutes of this quarter when we let Bombay pull ahead with a 4 goal run taking them into the lead at the first quarter whistle 14-10 Bombay
No changes by Aztec but Bombay switched their defenders around and bought on a new centre as the teams started the 2nd period of play. Aztec managed to stay goal for goal again for the first 8 centre passes of this quarter. Some ill-timed passes squandered possession allowing Bombay to get a run of 4 goals in a row to increase their lead to 6 when Spence injured her calf muscle and had to leave the court. Lendrum was full of the flu but came on to replace the injured Spence and Bombay scored the next 3 goals before we settled and scored from our next centre pass. The half time score had Bombay in front by 11.
Half time Score: 18 - 29 Bombay
At the 3rd quarter Ale was moved to GD and Hemi to WD. Bombay made wholesale changes with new players in every position. Despite some great speed and vision at the defensive end by White, Hemi and Ale we struggled at our attacking end to get the ball into our shooters. Their confidence dropped too and with that their accuracy. Bombay completely dominated this quarter scoring 19 goals to our 4.
Third Quarter Score: 48 - 22 Bombay
Bremner came on at WA, Page moved to C, Warren to GK and Bombay made 3 changes. Aztec took a few centre passes to settle into the new combinations but then were much quicker to release the ball in this period of play. The shooters were also following in their shots and rebounding their missed attempts. We had scored 7 to their 6 in this final quarter when Bremner had to call time for her legs. White came on at WA. We managed to keep the momentum going to the final whistle to win the last quarter by 1, 12-11. A decisive victory to Bombay by 25 goals but a much improved last quarter by Aztec.
